Atlanta International School (AIS) camps offer an enriching summer experience filled with fun, new friends and opportunities to learn about the world and each other! Language camps in French, Spanish, German, Chinese and English as a Second Language (ESL) this year are available to campers of all skill levels. This is a great way to introduce your child to different cultures and broaden one's ability to communicate to people all over the world.

Just as well, active campers can participate in a variety of other camps, including old favorites such as Scientific World, Natural World and Filmmaking! Budding performers, who like to sing, dance and act, will love Camp Stardust, where campers stage a new production each week! We are pleased to announce the addition of new camps such as Builders Camp, Art Safari Camp, and It's a jungle out there! Art Camp.
 
Atlanta International School summer camps offer programs for rising kindergarten students up to grade 12 and are located on the school’s campus in Buckhead. Before and aftercare are available for your convenience.

  • Summer Language Camps

    Language Camps 2018

    Atlanta International School's popular Language Camps in French, German, Spanish, and Chinese help campers develop their second language skills at all skill levels. Campers participate in immersion classes and activities such as theater and music delivered in their language of choice. Additionally, sports and technology activities are offered every week for a well-rounded camp experience. Our two-week curriculum addresses all aspects of language: listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary, and most importantly, a lifelong interest in other cultures. Through group projects, campers will become more familiar with the language and get to practice with peers. Our highly qualified and multicultural faculty are almost exclusively native speakers and have a passion for their language and culture.

    English as a Second Language 2018

    Atlanta International School’s popular language camps in English as a Second Language Camp (ESL) helps campers develop their second language skills at all ability levels. During the two-week camp immersion classes, students develop the following:
    • Comprehension and language skills
    • Ability to respond to the demands of social and academic life
    • A lifelong interest in other cultures
    Campers may also participate in sports, art, theater, music and technology activities in English. Available to all international and US students Kindergarten - Grade 12. No visa or transcript required.

    Spanish Language Grade 6 to Grade 12

    The objective of this two-week summer camp is to improve Spanish speaking and writing skills. Middle and high school campers participate in daily immersion language classes. Using group projects, campers will become more familiar with the language and increase their language acquisition skills. This develops the understanding of the cultural aspects of language making learning an exciting experience.

  • Arts and Science Camps

    Camp Stardust

    Camp Stardust is back for their 9th annual summer of dramatic fun at AIS! Each week campers work with a choreographer, music director, acting coach and, other professionals to create a weekly musical theatre performance. Past camp performances have included selections from such popular musicals as High School Musical and The Lion King. In addition to building strong musical theatre skills with our professional instructors, the students’ coordination, stage presence, and rehearsal techniques will be enhanced as well. Students may enroll for one, two or all three weeks. Space is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Lunch not included.

    Orchestra - The AIS Summer Strings Program

    This one week program is open to all violin, viola, cello and bass players in grades 1-8. Our focus will be on building ensemble skills, chamber music, and music theory. Students must have completed at least one year of private lessons and be proficient at reading music. Students provide their own instruments and AIS will provide any music necessary.

    Art Safari Camp

    Grab your binoculars because we are going to take a safari around the world! Visit different countries each day and learn about native animals through literature, games, and art. Discover the thrills of the hunt without leaving camp!

    Through the Looping Glass (Beading Camp)

    This new beading camp is for all jewelers and craftsmen alike! Campers will learn different styles of beadwork, embroidery and jewelry making. At the end of this camp, students will have pieces of their creativity to carry with them for years to come.

    Through the Looping Glass (Beading Camp)

    Filmmaking & Editing (2 Week Camp)

    Students work with professional filmmakers to learn the basics of filmmaking and work as a team to write a script, shoot their film, edit the footage and produce an original short film! Their movie will debut at a special screening for friends and family on the last day of class!
     
    During this production & post-production intensive 2-week camp, students will work together in small teams (i.e. 2-4 members) to produce and edit their own short film. During the first week, students will undergo in-depth equipment training with professional filmmakers. Training includes basic & advanced camera operations, lighting, and production management. While being trained, the students will be broken into their teams in order to develop their story based on short film scripts provided by the instructor. During the second week, the students will work in their groups to edit the footage into their final short film. The instructor will teach daily lessons about editing and style; visiting professional filmmakers will also provide presentations to the students. The second week ends with a Movie Screening for all parents & guests.

    Learning Ridge presents: The Scientific World Camp

    This STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) based camp explores the many scientific aspects of our world! Campers will explore the science of earthquakes, race cars, pulling and circuitry. While exploring, students will practice skills such as mechanical engineering, programming, architecture, applied physics, and teamwork. Along with learning many scientific skills, this camp includes daily LEGO WeDo 2.0 workshops.

    Learning Ridge presents: The Natural World Camp

    This STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) oriented camp teaches some of the most fascinating aspects of the natural world. Campers will explore the concepts of flooding, disaster rescue, metamorphosis, pollination, and insects. Throughout the week, students will practice encoding, biology, ecology, problem solving and teamwork. Along with many natural explorations, this camp includes daily LEGO WeDo 2.0 workshops.

    Superhero Dance Camp 

    Learn different styles of Dance! Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, Breakdancing and more! This will be an intensive dance camp that will help boost your child's personal growth, self- esteem and community team building. We will focus on discovering the Superhero within us.

    It’s a Jungle Out There! Art Camp

    Jump with us into this jungle adventure! Bring your best imagination and learn about the rainforest while you create animals, insects, reptiles, flowers and much more. Learn new art techniques and create friendly sloths, toucans, snakes, and piranhas. Find inspiration in the rainforest habitat and its people while you hear about their customs and create a tree house collage. We will have a wild time creating fun art projects, making new friends and playing games!

    Abrakadoodle - The Artsy Crafty WOW Camp

    Make It and Take It - Let’s get crafty! Join us for this DIY (Do It Yourself) Craft Camp where students explore cool, interesting crafts from around the world, develop new craft skills and get creative juices flowing! Each day is jam-packed with FUN activities like bowl making, weaving, and nature-inspired crafts. This make-it and take-it camp is a big “WOW” in the world of crafts.

    Little Scholars - Science Exploratorium Camp 

    Come discover, experiment, and create as we learn about the colliding worlds of art and science in this STEAM-based camp.  We will create biomes from around the world, stargaze at constellations, master meteorology, investigate how things work and dabble in chemistry and physics.  Put on your learning cap and grab the art supplies because this STEAM camp will rock your world.

  • Non-Traditional Day Camps

    Imagine Me Academy Camp

    A week-long introductory experience where students become innovators, build creative confidence, explore their interest and learn to be CEO of their lives for the first time. We draw heavily from the innovation process inspired by the Stanford D. school, we design and run constantly changing immersive projects each session. Students begin to identify their strengths, and skills learning how they can use their unique talents to change the world and become engineers for the first time. Students learn to solve problems with a fellow team of peers using S.T.E.A.M. They then solve problems for brands they love and recognize like Toys R Us, Nickelodeon and Disney. They will also explore social innovation and S.T.E.A.M. entrepreneurship. Campers get to pitch their ideas to an audience of supportive professionals, entrepreneurs and innovators from the Georgia Tech and Atlanta Innovation and Start-Up Communities. Each session the projects and teams change, students can continue to come back for this fun, fast-paced experience.

    CEO of My Life (2-week camp)

    Held on the campuses of the most prestigious universities that have the strongest entrepreneurial culture and business communities and select satellite locations, this is where we begin to ignite our students’ entrepreneurial spirits, build their creative confidence, and identify their unique talents, skills, and interests. We invest time in your child to provide them with relevant training to 21st Century business and life. Then, they apply these tools to gain opportunities to innovate in their personal lives and professional careers through a series of real-life competitions and design projects with prestigious companies. This allows the participants to continue to build self-confidence by beginning to build their personal brand as they move through each competition or experience. The two competitions are “The Dream Team” and “The Candidate” For the holistic entrepreneurial development of each child, students attend several labs during the day: Start UP Lab, Design Lab, Empire State of Mind and BrandU to name a few.

    Little Scholars Builder’s Camp

    Calling all inventors, creators, builders, and designers! Come build some awesome creations with us!  We will create our own designs and make structures using recyclable materials, Legos, and many other interesting items.  
    Skills necessary… none! Skills gained: communication, problem-solving, reasoning, developing creativity, and teamwork.

    Farm to Table Camp

    Whether you are a full-on foodie fanatic, want to learn culinary skills, or just enjoy sharing a snack with friends, Farm to Table camp has something for you. With renowned chef Debra Mazer, campers will visit local farms and urban gardens where we will tour, talk with the farmers, and gather the freshest, most delicious organic foods available. With a focus on local fruits, vegetables, and herbs, there will be plenty of yummy choices for everyone, including campers who are vegan, on a special diet, or have a very discriminating palate. This camp is all about developing a healthy and happy relationship with food while having fun!

    Circus Arts Camp

    Sara Gregory of MakeShift Circus presents an amazing week of circus fun and challenge! Campers learn and practice aerial arts such as silks and low trapeze. Hooping, balancing, and juggling round out the circus skills to create a show each Friday that friends and families are invited to attend.

    Puppet Camp

    Heidi Carpenter of InJest Puppets guides campers in exploring the world of puppetry arts. Hand puppets, Finger puppets, Rod puppets, Shadow puppets . . . a different kind of puppet to craft each day. The week culminates in a puppet show completely created by the campers, from the props and theater to the script, friends and families are invited and are sure to be delighted.

    Learning Ridge - Early Roboticist Camp ELC Half Day

    Join us Summer 2018 for an activity-packed week of Hands-On STEAM Workshops for your Early Learner! Students will utilize Original LEGO Materials and other popular resources to introduce them to essential 21st Century Skills in a pro-social-learning environment. Students will take part in 12 Hands-On Workshops where we answer questions like: What are different types of machines? What is a lever? and What is a robot? Students will build different technological machines, amusement parks and towns, construct trains and railways, understand the foundations of robotics and logic much more.

    Learning Ridge - Mission to Mars

    Mars: A New Frontier: This is Camp “Mission to Mars”. Our five-day mission: to explore the planet of Mars, to seek out new insights and experiences, to boldly go where no child has gone before.

    Join us this summer 2018 for an activity-packed week to train the next generation of Space Explorers. Your child may be one of the first individuals to set foot on Mars. During our Hands-on STEAM workshops, students will utilize Original LEGO Materials and other popular resources to acquire essential 21st Century Skills to advance their knowledge of space exploration. Students will take part in 15 Hands-On Workshops where we answer questions like: How do rovers work? How do we travel to Mars? What challenges will humans face on Mars? and much more.

    Go for the gold! Carry the Olympic torch to summer camp where you will participate in individual competitions and team-based challenges for a week of fun and games. Olympic Madness is for all those campers who want to try new sports and take your physical abilities to a whole new level.

    Little Scholars - Mini Med School Camp

    Is there a doctor in camp?  Join us this summer as we bring Mini-Med School to camp!  Our little doctors will use stuffed animal patients to take blood pressure readings, give “stitches”, put on a cast and make their own first aid kit, all while learning lots about what doctors, dentists, EMTs and other medical professionals do on a daily basis.  Join us for this fun-filled camp.

    Abrakadoodle - Extreme STEAM Camp

    Boys and girls climb aboard this creative experience to become a 21st-century innovator!  In this camp, you will translate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts into Art creations. Using a variety of art techniques, we will make a flying machine like Da Vinci, build a rocket ship, and create an aerial view drone map and much more. Challenge your imagination and creativity and become an EXTREME artist while you play games, make new friends and have extreme fun!

    Learning Ridge - Early Adventurer Camp, Half Day

    Join us Summer 2018 for an activity-packed week of Hands-On STEAM Workshops for your Early Learner!     Little Scholars Presents - World of Wizards Camp

    Calling all wizard fans! This is like no other camp you have experienced. We will take a magical journey into the world of wizards.  We will design wands, make magic potions, go on a magical creature hunt, play Quidditch, and participate in activities that will astound all Muggles.

    6th Grade Study & Keyboarding Skills

    Middle school can be an exciting, but challenging time for students. Get rid of the blocks to learning and get organized!  Learn effective ways to read texts and discover tricks to understand what your teacher is thinking. Take the stress and anxiety out of test taking. Figure out how to keep all your materials in the correct place. You will learn how to use time more effectively and grow into an active learner. Clear the path to better grades and set goals. Develop quick and accurate typing skills in this practical computer course. Daily lessons will include techniques, drill to improve accuracy, and tutorials on how to stay organized with Google. Activities for beginner or advanced computer-users make this a valuable experience in preparing for the next step in every student’s career. It’s time for a great start to the new school year in Grade 6!

    Drone Camp

    Drone Camp is about hands-on learning, innovation, and adventure. You’ll take to the skies and become an honorary junior drone pilot. Come make friends, play creative games and jump in at the forefront of an emerging field. This one-of-a-kind summer camp is for anybody and everybody. No experience needed, great memories guaranteed! Within 30 minutes your child is flying a $1,000 drone in the sky! On the last day of Drone Camp, students will be able to BUILD and TAKE home their own drone!

  • Kaleidoscope Camps

    Adventures of Storytime Camp

    Does your child love to get lost in the pages of a book? Adventures in story time will let your child’s imagination run wild while hearing and creating stories of far off lands, favorite characters, and fairytales. Students will visit local bookstores and hear stories from some of Atlanta’s best storytellers. Each student will go home at the end of the week with a  book that they created themselves from the characters, setting, and plot.

    Animal Kingdom Camp

    Jump with us into this jungle adventure! Bring your imagination alive while you create animals, insects, reptiles and more. This camp features a visit from real animals. We will have a wild time creating projects, making new friends and playing outdoor games!

    Craft-tasic Camp

    Join us for Kaleidoscope Craft-tasic Camp, as we put brush to canvas and paint the colorful history of art in modern society. Our pallet will include a study of famous artists such as Salvador Dali and Rembrandt, famous painting styles such as Impressionism, and even visits to local artists and venues around the city. We will experiment with different mediums (paint, charcoal, pastel, clay, etc.) as well as explore fundamental concepts, themes, and ideas that make art a universal language. Grab your paintbrush and don't miss out on this masterpiece of a camp!

    Water Water Everywhere Camp

    Atlanta is known for it’s blazing hot sun. We will beat the heat with an entire week all about ”WATER”. This camp will feature water games, water slides, splash pads and a visit to our neighborhood pool (only for grades 3 and up). Campers will also learn about the importance of clean water and water preservation. Art projects will consist of making your own watercolor, pool toys and  STEAM water play activities. This camp is sure to COOL you off in the HOT July sun.

    Around The World

    Come fly with us as we tour the world from famous landmarks, such as the Pyramids at Giza and the Great Barrier Reef to uncharted territories in the Amazon Rainforest, the Himalayas, the Grand Canyon & more! In our travels, we will stop and learn about local cultures and customs, and learn how diversity and globalization affect our everyday lives. Come take a trip with us this summer!

    Who's In Your Community Camp

    This camp focuses on learning about who is in our community. Our students will gain a greater understanding of how important community helpers are to our lives. We will have visitors from our local community members such as police officers, construction workers, and firefighters. The campers will make a community diorama, “trash to treasures” art projects, and play outdoor games like mail carrier relay race. This camp will leave your child with an appreciation for community helpers and explore ways that we can be community helpers too!

    Best of the BEST Camp

    Did you enjoy storytime or waterplay or maybe craft-tastic maybe you enjoyed lion tiger and bear oh my..maybe you want to see more of who works in your community? This camp combines all of our favorite activities from the summer into one full week that we affectionately call the “Best of the Best.” Join us this week to participate in the activities that our campers voted as their favorites all summer long. This camp is the People’s Choice of AIS Summer Camps!

    Stay and Play (Afternoon Camp)

    What better way for our campers to end the day than running, jumping and blowing off steam with their friends. Campers will play a variety of activities including games, sports, and outdoor fun (weather permitting).
