CELEBRATING AIS CAS GROUP 'GIRLS IN STEM' ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE
The United Nations General Assembly declared today, February 11th, as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, yet women and girls continue to be excluded from participating fully in science. AIS CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) group Girls In STEM works year-round on a range of initiatives that encourage girls to develop a passion for STEM subjects and pursue STEM careers. Their guest speaker program encourages female role models working in STEM fields to come into school and an outreach program offering workshops to our primary school students. Recently, the group has expanded its outreach with a project to help mentor refugee and first-generation immigrant girls in upper elementary and middle school.
