After School Activities

At AIS, we offer a highly regarded independent music lessons program outside of the regular school day. This is one of the strongest such programs of all the metropolitan Atlanta independent schools with lessons available in cello, piano, harp, guitar, flute, clarinet, vocal training and more.

Instruction is offered by qualified and experienced music instructors for all interested students. 

We also recommend that members of our Secondary School instrumental ensembles and those in Primary School band and strings take private lesson instruction. By doing so, our student musicians maximize their individual learning.

The AIS Jr. Eagles Athletic after school program supports the health and fitness of all of our Primary School student participants, and helps to develop their sense of community, team skills and a lifelong passion for sport.

Atlanta International School offers after school enrichment activities for all primary school students from 3K to Grade 5. The extensive program includes, depending on the age of the student; 

Playball, Ballet, Yoga, LEGO, Chess, Capoeira, Coding, Arts & Engineering, Magic, Creative Design, Sewing and more! Registration is opened at the start of the fall, winter and spring sessions and places are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

The Heritage Language Program is open to AIS and non-AIS students
from 5K - Grade 5 and fosters home languages not offered through the
AIS curriculum. The Heritage Language offerings for the 2022-23 school year are currently Arabic, Dutch, Greek, Hindi, Kiswahili, Korean and Portuguese. 

The Heritage Language program develops the close relationship between culture, identity and language proficiency, within the context of a language spoken at home, taught in a non-traditional style through inquiry.

The course is open to Primary School students who have at least basic
comprehension and communication skills in these heritage languages. Language classes meet twice a week after school, taught by a native speaker.

AIS's after-school program starts right after classes end and offers a caring environment and activities to students in grades 3K through Grade 5 until 6:00PM daily. All children in the program have a snack and can enjoy the playground, garden, arts and crafts, and inside activities or quiet time for homework.

We also offer childcare half and full day camps on teacher conference days and some school holidays.

Kaleidoscope After School Care registration is opened at the start the school year and places are offered on a first come, first serve basis. For more information please contact kaitlyn.harrison@aischool.org

After-school Language Clubs at AIS support student learning in Chinese, English, French, German and Spanish and embrace our core value of developing a joy of learning.

Activities such as cooking, crafting, painting and science experimenting are taught in either English, Chinese, French, German or Spanish - offering students a creative and exciting way to develop their language skills.

Academic language support clubs are also offered weekly.
