After-School Program Descriptions
Beginning Mandarin Chinese II 
- Grades: 3 to 5
- Days/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. for 28 weeks (two sessions)

- Fee: $225 per session plus $50 materials fee/$200 per session with KAS discount plus $50 materials fee
This class is for non-native-speaking children who have some basic knowledge of Mandarin, possibly through participation in Mandarin I. The children will further develop their Mandarin skills and abilities through topics connected to their daily life. Our thematic units will be "My Home," "What do we have in our classroom?," "Being Polite" and "My Favorite Meal". Apart from speaking Mandarin we will work on character recognition and writing in Chinese characters. Ms. Welp is currently a Primary School German teacher and also responsible for our Primary School strings program. She holds a master's degree in Chinese language and cultural studies with a focus on historical studies in Chinese language from the University of Hamburg in Germany. In addition she has a certificate from the Beijing Language and Culture University for teaching Mandarin as a foreign language.
