Middle School After-School Policy
To better provide supervision and safety for our Middle School students, we have the following procedures for all students on campus after school hours:
- Middle School students are allowed to wait in front of the Main Building for their rides until 4 p.m. each day. Students staying on campus after 4 p.m. and not involved in an organized extracurricular activity will be automatically considered to be part of the Kaleidoscope program and therefore must sign in at the Cafeteria.
- Students found on campus not signed in to Kaleidoscope will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
- Kaleidoscope is an unstructured program supervised by after-school staff where students may grab a snack in the Sports and Activities Center (SAC), socialize in the Cafeteria or play under the covered court. Middle School students will not be allowed in the SAC after 4 p.m.
- Students receiving tutoring must go directly to their tutoring class and report by 3:45 p.m. Students are also welcome to work on homework in the library, however, students must sign up in the library before 2 p.m. that day. Space is limited, and students who wait until after school to sign up may not be allowed to stay.
- For security reasons, parents picking up students after 4 p.m. must go to the front desk in the Main Building to sign out their children. At that time, students will be retrieved by a Kaleidoscope staff person. For safety reasons, parents are asked to follow the sign out procedure and not to call students' cell phones to arrange pick up.
- Students in after-school activities such as sports, theater, etc. will be escorted to the Kaleidoscope program if they are not picked up within 15 minutes of the end of the activity attended. Any student on campus after 5 p.m. awaiting pickup will be charged a $15 fee. Please note that students taking the late bus are not charged for the program.
- Please note that electronics are allowed in the program after 4 p.m.
