Meeting Schedule for January and February

New! Special Focus Groups

Due to the overwhelming interest that we received in our first round of topical focus groups for the strategic plan, we have decided to hold a second focus group for both Science and Math. In our initial focus group, we discussed both Science and Math in the same session; however, for this second round we’ve decided to hold individual sessions for each subject.

The Science Focus Group — Part II will be held next Wednesday, February 1 from 8:30-10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room in the SAC. Janet Deane, Chair of the Science Department, and Robert Brindley, Headmaster, will be in attendance.

The Math Focus Group — Part II will be held on Monday, February 13 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Lademacher Performing Arts Center. Roya Curtis, Chair of the Math Department, and Robert Brindley will be in attendance.

Update! Outcome of Strategic Planning Town Hall Meetings – Date Change

Gerry Hull, Chair of the AIS Board of Trustees, Alan Colberg, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, AIS Board of Trustees, Dr. David Hawley, President and Dr. Robert Brindley, Headmaster, want to thank everyone who participated for your thoughts and ideas which continue to drive our strategic planning effort. We had an unusually large number of parents involved at many levels, with over 330 parents participating. As part of the strategic planning effort we met with many different constituent groups: parents through the Town Hall meetings and focus groups; faculty; staff; over 150 alumni; one on one meetings with members of our Board of Trustees; and, all students in grades 11 and 12.

On the last weekend of January, the Board of Trustees met at its annual retreat. We are pleased to announce that the Board adopted a vision for Atlanta International School that reflects our collective aspirations. This vision was built largely on your hard work and input through the strategic planning process.

We invite you to attend one of our upcoming Strategic Planning Town Hall Meetings where we will be unveiling the vision in more detail, including plans to address specific issues highlighted in your feedback.
