Student Enrollment and Community Profile
Strategic Plan 2001-2005
AIS will establish a balance of highly motivated local and international students who can thrive in its highly challenging academic program. It will maintain an enrollment level that makes optimal use of the available facilities and resources and that allows each division to build a strong sense of community. Students will be actively recruited from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, linguistic, religious, and national backgrounds. AIS will strive to have a similarly diverse faculty, staff and Board of Trustees.
Goals
- AIS will strive to increase the ethnic diversity of its students, faculty, staff and Board of Trustees, with particular emphasis placed on increasing the representation of African-Americans, Latin-Americans, and Asian-Americans drawn from the U.S. population (which comprises 50% of the student enrollment at AIS).
- Native speakers of French, German and Spanish will comprise at least one third of the students in each language track in the primary school, respectively.
- AIS will strive to retain native language speakers in the middle and upper school language programs.
- AIS will stabilize enrollment at approximately 800 – 825 students.
- AIS will strive to spend 10% of revenues, with expenditure in excess of the current percentage of revenues being funded from sources other than tuition, on financial aid.
- AIS will implement the Diversity Sub- committee’s policy and strategy approved by the Board of Trustees, spring 2000.
- AIS will complete a feasibility study on the need and opportunity for an expanded school.
- AIS will strive to increase the socioeconomic diversity of its student body.
