Academic Program
Strategic Plan 2001-2005
Every student at AIS will be educated in a highly challenging academic setting distinguished by its coherent philosophy, curriculum and methods of assessment based upon the best international and U.S. standards. Low student/teacher ratios and small class sizes will ensure all students receive the personal attention needed to help them develop to their potential. Faculty, staff and students will be provided with the appropriate tools and resources to meet the curriculum goals for each grade level and for each subject area.
Goals
- AIS will achieve and maintain IB Primary Years Programme authorization.
- AIS will establish a concise and clearly written school-wide philosophical and pedagogical framework for teaching practices and for assessing student performance. This framework will have a strong fit with the IB Primary Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme.
- AIS will implement a continuous, coherent and effective academic and personal advisory program with improved communication with parents about student progress in grades 4K-12.
- AIS will develop and incorporate appropriate information technology and research skills across all the relevant disciplines.
- The external measures of student performance, in concert with internal (teacher developed and moderated) assessment of student performance, will be communicated to students and parents in a timely, understandable and appropriate way. Results will also be analyzed by grade level and school-wide. Subject areas in need of strengthening will receive the necessary changes in resources or teaching to make improvements.
