AIS Strategic Planning 101
Starting point - Challenges and Opportunities that the new strategic plan must address
Recent Council of International Schools (CIS) Five Year re-accreditation report and visits by IB Organization and Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) identified several important issues that our next plan must address:
- Teaching space for the Primary School inquiry-based approach is inadequate
- Space and equipment limitations also negatively impact the science program school-wide
- Articulation of and consistency of K-12 curriculum and improvement of transitions (especially fit of 6-10 curriculum)
- The quality, effectiveness and consistency of faculty and staff appraisal and development
- The measurement of student achievement on a longitudinal basis
- Ensuring core IT skills are mastered by all students
Additionally, several major environmental changes are occurring:
- Technology proliferation and the internet may have significant impacts on the learning process
- Far more school choices are now available in the Atlanta area, including the IB
- Demand for less Euro-centric curriculum, such as Chinese language and Asian studies, is increasing
