AIS Strategic Planning 101
Starting point – Review of progress made during the last five years against our 2001-2005 strategic plan
AIS last completed a strategic plan in spring 2001
In the 5 years since this plan was established, AIS has achieved the majority of the goals outlined in the plan. Key achievements include:
- High levels of student achievement in all key measures – IB results, SAT, college admission
- A coherent and comprehensive advisory program has been established, ensuring each child "is known well"
- IB Primary Years Program authorization was achieved
- Communication of student progress has been improved through new report formats and student-led conferences
- Targets for substantial investment in IT infrastructure and integration of IT into the curriculum has been completed
- Process established for regular, targeted recruiting of students from different racial, ethnic, national and linguistic backgrounds implemented by the admission office
- AIS completed its most ambitious capital campaign in its history, raising over $11 million
- Faculty attrition has been low and stable
- Substantial increases have been made in professional development funds through the travel, study and research grants
- A new Sports and Activities Center has been built, enhancing both the sports and the music program
- A fifty-year lease of the campus was obtained from Atlanta Public Schools
- The endowment has grown from near zero to over $6 million
- Annual giving now exceeds our benchmark schools on a per-student basis
- AIS has increased its coverage in the local press
