Matching Gifts

Many employers multiply donors' support through matching gift programs. In some cases, companies will match contributions from spouses, directors and retired employees. These programs are a great way to double, possibly even triple, the size of your gift. Please contact your company's Personnel Director or Matching Gifts Coordinator and include the matching gift form with your gift.

Who Do You Work For? Why Does It Matter?

There are not two but three things you can count on in life: death, taxes... and enrollment forms. Many of us look for ways to shortcut the time it takes to complete the copious forms our children require for school and extracurricular activities. Some information requested seems so unnecessary, such as the parent's place of employment. "Why do they need to know where I work?" you may ask. "What does my employer have to do with my child's enrollment at AIS?"

Because the need for employment information is not particularly obvious, this is one field on the re-enrollment form that parents may skip or not update. However, it is very important for AIS to keep accurate records of its parents' place of employment. Why?

First and foremost, accurate employer information enables AIS to more easily fundraise in the community as well as provide internships for our students. When AIS approaches businesses for donations, the school is asked to provide statistics on where AIS parents are employed. Companies want to know how many of their employees have children at AIS, and being able to tell them makes it more likely that they will contribute. These companies are also more receptive to providing intership opportunities for AIS students if they know that their employees have children at AIS.

Third, many companies match the donations that their employees make to private schools. If AIS knows your place of employement, the Development Office can help you determine whether or not your employer is a matching gift company and work with you to help facilitate the matching gift. You can also look below to see a list of known matching gift companies. If you see your employer listed here, ask your human resources office if they support educational programs.

Finally, some employers offer special incentives to employees who want to donate to their children's school. For instance, one AIS parent was able to maximize her contribution to AIS by donating several computers that her employer - IBM - made available at 75% discount for school-related purchases. Other incentives may exist with your employer. When you return your AIS enrollment form, please make sure that your employer information is up-to-date. If you have already returned your form, but need to make changes in your employer's data, please login to the Parent Portal at to update your information.

Matching Contributions

By asking your employer to back your commitment, you are making your contribution even more meaningful and increasing its impact for the school.
