Upper School
The Upper School serves the developmental needs of students in grades 9 through 12. All students take English, one other modern language, mathematics, social studies and science. Drama, art, music, computer and physical education are also an integral part of the curriculum in the Upper School. Language and literature studies are conducted in the students' chosen second languages throughout the Middle and Upper School. Students who are bilingual, either by background or by having attended the AIS Primary School, study their second languages at an advanced level.
Students who speak only English are welcome to apply to the AIS Upper School. We offer intensive language courses from beginner through native speaker levels, and can accommodate the needs of monolingual students.
Students in grade 9 and 10 follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), designed to prepare them for the IB Diploma Programme (DP), which they follow in grades 11 and 12.
