Roman Epic Released
The thirst for epic drama out of the pages of ancient history continues unquenched. This time it's for reel.
In a time of fearless courage...
In a place of brooding heroism...
In a school of creative genius...
...comes a film of immense and intense dramatic proportions and scope.
Well actually, the Upper School Latin class put together a little play in Latin and decided to film it. The play, entitled Statuae (The Statues), depicts a Roman family lost to a father in thrall to his collection of statues, until they come alive....
As much as possible we tried to recreate Roman dress, speech, gesture, subtitles, odors… We filmed it out by the frieze and edited it on Mr. Rogers' brand new PowerMac G4.
Our thanks go to Mr. Rogers, Mr. Warren and Mrs. Weeks for their generous help and encouragement.
Congratulations to the following for all their hard work and creativity: Victoria Hynes, Marissa Jackson, Ryan Wainwright, Nikisha Amin, Joel Kern, Colin Shore, Chika John, Christina Rutte, Amelia Zuver, Keely Bilthouse, Tobias Geiger, Megan McGraw, Ciara O'Halloran, Emily Robey, and Jordan Suresky.
As I write, we hope to show our film in an US morning meeting. Bring popcorn and goblets....
