MS Boys A-Team Soccer Final

The Middle School boys’ soccer A-team hosted the final of the playoffs. The game kicked off in a party atmosphere and it was definitely the best competition the team had all year. The first half was a display of quality soccer with AIS edging themselves in front with a goal just before half-time. Jordan Levine #11 made the assist and it was finished off by Captain Nick Leach #10, with a low left foot drive beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. In the second half the AIS team put the game away with a goal assisted by Leach and finished off by the extremely fast Nigel Kalumbu #20. AIS didn’t concede any goals and this was not just because of our whole defense but by two great performances from central defender Dumela Thomas #15 and the sweeper/co-captain Tyler Hilliard #5. Because of the two great goals and the phenomenal defense by AIS, they won the game and were rewarded with the championship trophy. The trophy was accepted in front of home crowd fans who gave a huge roar of applause. The team was very excited about winning the Metro Championship 2005.

It was clear from the beginning that this year’s team was very talented. With the help of Coach Spencer and some time to develop some team chemistry, this team was set to do great things. Some would say it was a perfect season: winning all of the regular season games and then going through a tremendous run in the playoffs, capped off by a win in the final. We all hope that other AIS teams will have more of these types of seasons and that AIS can build a sort of dynasty in soccer!
