Night of 1,000 Dinners A Great Success

On the evening of November 11, the Upper School CAS group International Students Against Landmines (ISAL) held the first of what is soon to be an annual event at AIS: the Night of One Thousand Dinners. For this occasion, more than seventy of AIS’s faculty and parents gathered in the auditorium for an evening of fun, feasting, and fundraising, provided by the great efforts of the hard-working members of ISAL. The event was a spectacular success, raising over $2,000 for the landmines cause, through ticket sales, sales of merchandise and donations. The guest speaker was Dr. Phil Johnston, former president of CARE, who currently works in Colombia with landmine victims.

ISAL would like to thank each and every parent, teacher and staff member who attended the dinner. Your kindness was greatly appreciated, and your donations will validate not only our efforts but also the lives of people living in landmine-infested countries around the world. I, in turn, would like to take the time to thank Mr. Al Ozelci for the abundance of delicious food he provided, Mrs. Roya Curtis for her endless efforts on our behalf, and the members of ISAL at all grade levels, who gave up so much of their precious time in order for the dinner to proceed smoothly. To everyone who helped or attended, your efforts were invaluable, and once again, thank you!
