5K Students Meet Canine Hearing Companion

Nicolas San Miguel (5K Spanish) brought his dad, Rafael, and their special dog, Bernice, to demonstrate sound and hearing. Bernice hears the door bell ring and the baby cry, so she can tell Mr. San Miguel, who is hearing-impaired, what is happening. We enjoyed her energy and patience with all the love and noise in our 5K classroom.

Using bottles of two sizes, the students discovered changes in tone with one cup of blue water, two cups of green water, three cups of black water, four cups of yellow water and no water. Hearing was fun when they played tunes with spoons and whistled on the bottle tops.
