Around AIS: Sam Massell

Buckhead Coalition President and former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell was invited by AIS senior Jacob Levinson to Upper School morning meeting to talk about his lifelong experiences with elections and local government. Starting with becoming president of his university fraternity at age 16, Mr. Massell has spent a lifetime involved in city and local politics, and his trademark energy and sense of humor kept the students engaged and asking questions well past the time set aside for his visit. Dr. Hawley concluded Mr. Massell’s visit by telling the students how Mr. Massell has long been a champion of AIS and was in fact instrumental in finding the school its current campus. Mr. Massell also continues to bring in financial support from many civic organizations and has helped immeasurably in raising the school’s profile in the business community.
