French lessons: Cécile Leudet de la Vallée with Alliance Française
Thank to a very good collaboration between AIS, Alliance Française and Ensemble, French classes for parents at AIS became a reality. Two beginner groups started September 20: Tuesdays at 12 noon or 6:30 p.m. Depending on demand, more groups can be created during the year. Ask Cécile if you wish to join.
Movie program: Emmanuelle Badarani
Our first movie of the year, The Two Brothers was a huge success with more than 70 people in attendance! Ensemble returns November 5 with the next French movie of the month, Tintin.
Police presentation: Ned Cole
During the next Ensemble meetings, a presentation by Atlanta police officer Ned Cole of the laws and legal customs of Georgia. Great for expats especially. Thursday, November 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the library with complimentary babysitting, or Friday, November 4 at 8:30 a.m. in the SAC.
Cooking: Véronique Duchamp
Once a month, one person will invite the other members of his/her group to their home, show how to prepare a meal and then share it. The next month, another member of the group will invite the group and repeat the experience, a kind of "dinner of eight" style activity. A multi-cultural experience open to everyone. The group will start as soon as a group is ready (6 to 8 people). If you want to join a lunch group, ask Véronique Duchamp. If you want to organize a dinner group, send an e-mail to ensemble_ais@yahoo.com.
Volunteers for further activities:
Open house: Natalie Huyghe
November 20. Organize an open house afternoon at AIS for families living around Atlanta who might be interested in AIS for their children in preparation for the admissions season. Teachers will be available to meet with parents. Volunteers are needed both for the preparation of the open house (mailing, addressing, delivering invitations) and for the day of the event, to answer parents’ questions. This was a great success last year. Ensemble needs more volunteers to set up this activity. Want to help? Please call Natalie Huyghe.
Document database: Régine Cantacuzène
Régine Cantacuzène will organize a database of French documentaries on DVD, VHS, for sharing with other French program families. She is also planning to organize the recording of children books in French for non French native speaking parents: to promote correct pronunciation learning at home, etc. A catalog of these will be prepared. Want to record yourself reading French books? Easy - just call Régine Cantacuzène.
