Parent Organization News
We had our first PO Council meeting on September 21. At this meeting, the budget was approved with the proviso of Sally Foster sales reaching their goal. Some very interesting topics were discussed which we will continue to debate moving forward.
Parent Organization General Meeting
The next Council meeting on October 19 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium will also be our General Meeting. At the beginning of the meeting each Council member will have the opportunity to make a brief announcement.
Important items on the agenda will be
1. Parent support of the CAS groups, with Tobin Bechtel and CAS students
2. David Hawley’s presentation on the parent survey, specifically the question of whether there is an adult at school that knows our children well.
We invite all parents to attend this important meeting to participate in the discussion.
Planning further ahead, we are working on the content for some evening meetings in early 2005. We are still discussing topics but the meetings would be most successful if the topics are proposed by parents. Please help us with the planning by making suggestions now.
On your behalf, Bonnie Bokman, PO President-Elect, and I attend several meetings with other school groups. Here are updates on some recent meetings:
The Education Committee has not yet met, but one of its tasks for this year will be to explore the "Teacher Resource Allocation" (class sizes, teacher-student ratios, etc.).
We will also be serving as advisors to the Diversity Committee.
A meeting with David Hawley and Ken Wilkins (Director of Finance and Operations) concerning the Health and Safety Task Force, to be newly formed, is imminent.
If you have input on any of these topics, please feel free to contact Bonnie and me with any suggestions or comments.
