Dust Off Your Clubs and Racquets
Atlanta International School's 9th annual Golf & Tennis Tournament is on Monday, September 25 at 10 a.m., at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, near Emory University. Playing spots are still available, and registration will be open until Friday, September 8. Registration is available online.
The 18-hole Golf Tournament is a scramble format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The driving range will open at 8 a.m., and a putting contest begins at 8:30 a.m. Continental breakfast, boxed lunch, beverages and a gift bag with a golf shirt will be given to all participants. Prizes for winning teams and hole contests will be awarded at a reception for all players following the tournament. Playing fees are $375 for individuals and $1,400 for foursomes.
At the Tennis Tournament, join former and current ATP and WTA pros as well as Atlanta's finest pros for a round-robin Pro-Am Tournament at 10 a.m. The tournament is flighted to encourage all levels of players to participate. Continental breakfast, boxed lunch, beverages and a gift bag with a tournament t-shirt will be given to all participants. Prizes for top male and female players will be awarded at a reception for all players following the tournament. Playing fees are $200 for one player and $350 for two players.
The Club where the tournament takes place was established in 1913. A sanctuary tucked away in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood, Druid Hills Golf Course is just minutes from downtown Atlanta. It was voted #9 in the "Top Ten" Best Course Renovations in the U.S. by Golf Digest, after famed architect Bob Cupp re-designed the course in 2003. The tennis facilities offer four hard courts and seven clay courts that are staffed by the top tennis professionals in the city.
Co-chaired by Horst Bente, Gene Eidelman, Bill Hirsch and Edward Toledano, and supported by the AIS Sports Booster Club, the Golf & Tennis Tournament is a fundraising event that supports athletic programs at AIS.
