Experience the Culture of India

As a volunteer, a staff member and a parent of a Grade 8 student, I am pleased to be leading preparations for AIS’s Spring Benefit: Passport to India on April 28, 2007. The purpose of the Spring Benefit is to raise funds for Atlanta International School. All proceeds contribute to financial aid, faculty development, academic programs and the general operations of the school. However, of equal importance is to realistically represent the culture of the country or region of the world featured at the Spring Benefit to AIS and our community.

This year, the Spring Benefit will celebrate the people and culture of India. To create more opportunities to learn about and experience the food and people of India, the Spring Benefit Committee will host meetings and events for volunteers throughout the year leading up to the event. Our next meeting is Friday, September 22, at 8:30 a.m. in the Legacy Room (note date change from calendar). Please join us if you are interested in volunteering. Volunteers are the driving force behind making the Benefit such a huge success, and there are many ways to help. We are currently looking for parent volunteers from the Primary, Middle and Upper Schools to assist with acquisitions, parent projects and student art.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Spring Benefit, and for specific information about roles and time commitment, please contact Laura Nelson in the Development Office at 404-841-3847 or lnelson@aischool.org. Or, contact Patty at 404-841-3840 ext 187 or pwebb@aischool.org. For more information, go to the Spring Benefit page of our Web site.
