Music Notes: AIS Chamber Players
AIS Chamber Players 2005-2006 Season Call for Performers
The AIS Chamber Players, inaugurated in April 2004, is a solo and chamber music event scheduled during the school year as an evening program featuring performers from the AIS community. Anyone connected to the AIS community – students, faculty, staff, parents – will be welcome to participate.
Instrumentalists and vocalists are encouraged to apply for a performance slot on one of the five programs offered during the year. Prospective performers may apply for more than one program, but scheduling cannot be guaranteed for more than one performance by any one individual. New this year: all program participants must have completed a minimum of two years of study on their respective instrument and/or voice. Also new this year: a maximum of five participants and/or events from any one private lesson instructor will be accepted per program (excluding the instructor, and subject to consultation with the instructor.)
Performance dates are as follows, all evening programs, and all in the AIS Auditorium:
- Thursday, October 6, 2005 (7 p.m.)
- Tuesday, January 24, 2006 (7 p.m.)
- Tuesday, March 28, 2006 (IB Junior Recital at 7 p.m., AIS Chamber Players at 7:30 p.m.)
- Tuesday, May 23, 2006 (7 p.m.)
Participants are expected to prepare completely for the performance. This is not a “talent show” but rather a performance opportunity for serious art music as well as lighter art and concert music. Participants may be requested to perform for Dr. Howard, Subject Leader of Secondary School Music, prior to a performance. While there is no time limit for individual performances, please try to be reasonable with your time request. Three to six minutes is an ideal time frame for these types of performances. When a program fills up in terms of time, no more performance applications will be accepted. Generally we observe a “first come first served” policy toward scheduling performances.
Please e-mail Dr. Howard at rhoward@aischool.org for a Performance Request Form and return it to him no later than two weeks (14 calendar days) prior to your requested performance. All information submitted on the form must be accurate and checked for spelling as this information will be used for the printed concert programs.
