Around Atlanta
The Around Atlanta group organizes monthly events to help AIS parents get to know the Atlanta area (and each other) better. This is not just for newcomers—many of us have lived here for years and are still exploring this distinctive city. And natives are always welcome to share their unique perspective.
The next tour will be on Tuesday, September 20. We will take a one and one-half hour walking tour of downtown Atlanta. The tour will be led by an Atlanta Preservation Center guide, who will show us how Atlanta’s downtown architecture developed from Victorian period styles to Art Deco to modern, and tell us about the businessmen, architects and prominent families who created the city’s early commercial center.
The tour begins at 10:30 a.m. downtown, but we will first meet at about 8:15 a.m. by the AIS main entrance, have coffee together, and then carpool downtown. After the tour, for those who wish, we will have lunch together. The cost of the tour is $17 per person, payable on the day of the tour. RSVP to Laurie Martin at woodrowway@yahoo.com.
