Fall Sports Preview

Please see September’s sports calendar online at www.aischool.org/Athletic.htm or on the outdoor calendar.

Volleyball

Middle School:
New coach Aurelien Noyelle expects the A-Team to be real competitors this year. With many returning players, winning the Davis tournament at the end of the season is their goal. The girls hope to keep their winning ways going.
Experienced B-Team coach Cliff Waddy hopes its first winning season will be this year. 35 girls have joined the Eagles team and the girls are excited to start their games.

Upper School:
With Jayme Burleson, the Varsity team is looking forward to having a successful year. Led by returning starters Whitney Lykins, Kelly Carstens, and Brianna Carbonell, the Eagles should do better than their 8-8 finish last year.
Coach Waddy takes on double duty by also leading the Junior Varsity team this year. We have lots of talent and depth, and our experienced freshmen make the season look bright!

Soccer

Middle School:
Coach Neil Spencer feels he has another tough team. Talent is deep and with lots of experience, the team looks keen to take back the title.
Our B-Team looks to be much improved under second year coach Kouroush Doulkani. Lots more experience comes to the team this year. High numbers of participants ensure a successful season.

Upper School:
The Varsity Eagles look to improve on their 4th Place State finish last season. Coach Ron Osterloh feels this team is better and can go “all the way.” Led by seniors Stephane Leblois and Sam Huntley, the team has already been dominant in the first games of the season going 2–0–0.
Coach Neil Cook’s JV team will be much improved for this year as they have inherited many players from the JV championship game team. The team’s run to the play-offs will be a tough road, but one our Eagles will certainly be up for. They are currently undefeated at 2-0-0.

Cross Country

Middle School:
With only three participants last year the team struggled. This year’s team, led by Coach Wendy Newman, is solid with 23 enthusiastic athletes ready to RUN! The team has been working hard and looks forward to their first competition.

Upper School:
Coach Lili Medina can’t wait for the Eagles season to begin. Bringing back the team that was 2nd in the Region and 8th at State makes for an exciting season to come. The team’s numbers have swelled and they should contend for the Region title this season.
