Art Students View Rembrandt Etchings at Oglethorpe University

During May, the Grade 9 art students visited the exhibition of Rembrandt's etchings at Oglethorpe University. The visit was made possible by Ms. Jennifer Pendergast, our Secondary School art teacher, and Mr. Nick Lloyd, the curator of the art gallery, whose niece, Nathaly Kerba, is a 9th grader at AIS. Mr. Lloyd gave the students a personal talk about the life of Rembrandt and his work as well as details of the printing process.

This exhibition coincided perfectly with the students' area of study. They have studied a variety of printmaking techniques during the past semester including Rembrandt's style of etching. Examples of their work were displayed in the SAC.
