Summer Time
This year we graduated our 14th class of AIS graduates and it is now time to say happy summer holidays to all families. Our twentieth anniversary year has flown by, filled with the accomplishments of an exceptional collection of students from around the world led by those engaged in life’s most important work: teaching. Please join me in thanking our talented and dedicated teachers for all that they have done to inspire our students to learn about and to lead in our world.
The Class of 2005 brought our total number of graduates to 527. This class was not only the largest class to graduate from AIS, it broke other records such as the millions of dollars in scholarships they have been offered to attend top colleges and universities locally, nationally and internationally. They have left an indelible impression on the school with their musical and theatrical talents, by winning on the sports field, by helping to establish our robotics club, and by putting in countless hours of community service both in Atlanta and around the world. We know they have a bright future and we wish them success on their journey.
For those students returning next year, the AIS summer reading list can be found online. Reading is one of the best ways to cultivate the mind and stay intellectually fit for the next school year. As I mentioned in my graduation comments, a good read for all of us this summer is Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat. I think you will find that AIS is uniquely suited to prepare the next generation for the world he describes.
Returning families will receive two mailings this summer. The first will arrive toward the end of June, and the second in late July. Both will be filled with important information for the 2005-06 academic year.
May your summer be wonderful, however you choose to spend it.
