Giving Thanks By Giving Back

On June 15, full time AIS faculty and staff are invited to a Global Harvest luncheon celebrating the wonderful accomplishments of all the AIS community. Recently, we were moved by the AIS community’s energy and cooperation in supporting relief efforts for the victims of the tsunami. The spirit of service and dedication inspired us to decide that the best way to give thanks to all who do so much to educate our children was to do precisely what they do: give back to our community, resulting in the theme of this year’s PO Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

While trying to find a gift that would demonstrate how much we value and appreciate our staff, we came across baskets that were woven in Bangladesh by women who send their children to school with the proceeds from the sales. We felt this would be the perfect gift, one that not only gives to its recipient but also gives back to the community and reinforces the key AIS values: how to become true and responsible citizens of the world.

Along the same lines is the fully organic Global Harvest menu which presents recipes from all over the world. In this way we support local organic growers who are committed to providing their customers with top quality healthy and environmentally friendly products.

As always it has been the cooperation of many parents and staff who have made this event possible. We give a special thanks to:
