Practice Your Swing and Save the Date
Practice your swing this summer and save the date for Atlanta International School’s Global Challenge Golf and Tennis Tournament Monday, September 12 at The Standard Club in Duluth.
The Pro-Am Tennis Tournament will feature round robin play and begin at 10 a.m. Some of Atlanta’s top celebrity tennis players are expected to participate and prizes will be awarded to the winning teams at a reception following the tournament. Lunch, beverages, a t-shirt and tennis balls are given to all participants.
The 18-hole Golf Tournament is a scramble format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Lunch, beverages, a golf shirt and a sleeve of golf balls are given to all participants. Prizes for winning teams, as well as for contests such as “closest to the pin,” “putting” and “longest drive” will be awarded at a reception following the tournament.
Both tournaments will be held at The Standard Club in Duluth. Founded in 1867, The Standard Club is one of the most prestigious and historic private clubs in Georgia. The 18-hole championship golf course was re-designed by Michael Riley Design, LLC, in 2004, and will re-open in summer 2005 when complete grow-in is expected. The golf tournament will be one of the first to be played on the newly redesigned course. The Club also offers the finest in tennis facilities and was chosen by the United States Tennis Association to host the Men’s National 60’s Tournament.
Co-chaired by Gene Eidelman, Horst Bente and Bill and Tricia Hirsch, and supported by the AIS Sports Boosters Club, the Global Challenge tournament supports athletic programs, financial aid scholarships, faculty development programs, and maintenance of the historic buildings on campus.
