Adios for Now, Amigos

As we bid each other farewell before our long awaited vacation, I want to say that this past year we have become “queridos amigos” (dear friends) and I sincerely hope we continue the same next year. It has been through the work of so many of you that we have accomplished so many goals together and I hope you are all as excited about the many other projects we have lined up for next year. We hope to continue to offer the Spanish lessons for parents, Flamenco lessons for Primary, Middle and Upper School students as well as parents, and Spanish homework assistance. We intend to repeat helping to coordinate the WorldFest Fiesta Marketplace through live entertainment with cultural and musical groups, and of course we will host our traditional Amigos Fiesta Night.

Among our new ventures are setting up a homework assistance “hotline,” holding monthly Middle and Upper School Spanish guest speakers and working with the PO Hospitality committee to host the Faculty/Staff appreciation luncheon. Keeping this in mind, we ask that when you visit your home countries this summer, please remember these events and think of ways we can bring our culture, music, foods, etc., back to share them with the entire AIS community. Also, during your visits, if you see documentaries that might be of value to our Spanish teachers, please tape them and bring them back to share with them. We are sure they would be most appreciative. Just remember that Amigos is here to support our children in their learning of the Spanish language and the many cultures that share it, so any way in which you can further support them is of great value to the entire AIS community.

Muchas, muchas gracias for all your support.

P.S. Please join me in wishing Clarivel Sacco and her family all the best as they leave to relocate in Italy. Clarivel has been a very active member of Amigos and she will be truly missed.
