Sanborn moves on to State
Lindsay Sanborn will be running at the State Meet in the 1600m and 3200m events.
In the 1600m, Lindsay took the lead early on; in the last 200m, Landmark and Fellowship passed her, but in the last 100m Lindsay fought back in a tight battle to lean at the finish line to take 2nd place, with 5:18.88. Lindsay was awarded a silver medal. Landmark 5:18.23, AIS 5:18.88, Fellowship 5:19.05.
In the 3200m, Lindsay stayed in 2nd place the entire race, until the last 400m where she made her move to 1st, then Landmark gave chase in the last 200m to move into 1st. Another close finish for Lindsay, in 11:43.37. Lindsay was awarded a silver medal. Landmark 11:40.58, AIS 11:43.37
McNalley receives first medal of Regionals
Annika McNalley jumped to j5-00.00, a 3rd place finish, missing the State Meet by one attempt. Annika was awarded the first medal of the games.
Strong 4x400m Team went to Finals
The team of Mikeala Gordon, Joanna Palmer, Annika McNalley, and Julia Lancaster took 3rd place in qualifying to move on to the finals, with 4:39.64. In the Finals Hortense Badarani, Joanna Palmer, Annika McNalley, and Julia Lancaster ran a 4:33.00, finishing 6th.
Lancaster in Final
Julia Lancaster finished in 7th place in qualifying, 1:08.40. Julia ran a smart Final race, and finish in a close 6th place with 1:06.94.
McKenney in a close 4th
Sarah McKenney was edged out in the Discus, finishing in 4th place, with a throw of 86-01.
Atlanta International School finished in 5th place out of 11 teams
This Track & Field season we had a record turnout of 21 girls; 14 went on to the Regionals, 1 went to State in two events.
