Grade 2 Students Go Back in Time
Second graders spent a "day in the life of ancient people" and had a memorable experience as the culmination of the unit of inquiry "A Long Time Ago."
In the words of parent Alejandra Dent, "In all the classrooms, students participated in games and crafts related to the Roman, Aztec and Egyptian civilizations, making the closure to this event, truly, a day in the life of the ancient people. The parents provided delicious dishes representing the diets of the Egyptians, and many children tried the delicious bread with honey. There was a delicious cookie, grapes, apples and even lamb. The Romans shared their fruits and vegetables, and many also enjoyed the Aztec diet with their avocados, corn, papaya and beans. Everyone was delighted! The crafts representing the life and costumes of the ancient world were especially impressive, with temples and huts depicted in miniature, as well as lengthy essays regarding the life of Romans, Egyptians and Aztecs alike. Children truly enjoyed this unit, and the teachers’ work was amazing."
Congratulations on a job well done to all our dedicated teachers who, with their passion, have inspired our youngsters to great purposeful effort and lifelong memories! A sincere thank you from all the second grade parents. Thanks also to Sylvia Williams for the photos.
