Grade 5 Spanish Exchange Trips
The German and Spanish Grade 5 students recently returned from their exchange trips to Berlin and Costa Rica respectively. The following are samples of their enthusiastic reflections on their time away. The French students will be traveling to Martinique in May so look for their reports in the June Globetrotter.

As you may already know, the Grade 5 Spanish class recently came back from their wonderful journey in Costa Rica. On this trip we found several friends, caring families and many incredible places. I think that everyone in the world deserves an opportunity like this, and I feel so lucky that I went to such a beautiful country and experienced one of the greatest moments of my life. I would like to thank Ms. Stella Salazar and Ms. Jenni Thompson for organizing what turned out to be more than just a trip. Because whether we were exploring tropical rainforests, admiring gorgeous waterfalls or even playing soccer, I was always thinking: “Wow, they went through so much trouble just so we could have fun.” For that reason I would like to say to the children in Grade 4 that they have an amazing adventure in front of them which they will never forget.

My experience in Costa Rica was the best one I’ve ever had going to any foreign country. We met some of the most kind, generous, and talented people and went to some of the prettiest places ever! Some of them were: La Paz Waterfalls Gardens, E.A.R.T.H University, and InBio. It was very interesting to see how they lived their daily life in school and away from school. Overall this was a great opportunity.

When I went to Costa Rica for 10 days with all my classmates on an exchange trip, I made a very close friend and I think all of us will at least stay in touch by telephone or e-mail with our exchange buddies. Now we have not only experienced a new culture, but now we have international friends! Soon the exchange students from Costa Rica will come to our houses and I don’t know anyone who isn’t looking forward to that.

Recently our class went to Costa Rica. We got to stay with host families and experience their unique culture. A few of the amazing places we visited were La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Earth University and Parque InBio. I especially enjoyed Parque InBio, where you can explore Costa Rica’s biodiversity. We saw the different forests such as the tropical and dry. I believe that this trip has made us all more confident in ourselves and I hope that the 4th grade class, this year, will have an awesome experience just as we did. This was a wonderful opportunity for us and we all had a lot of fun!
