New Mural at AIS: La Madre Selva (Mother Forest)
There is a new face appearing on the mural wall outside the library where our old Dragon friend once roamed. We have slowly seen a new environment unfold which is a celebration of life itself. The Mother Forest was conceived with the help of the Spanish track 5th Grade students after their trip to the Rain Forest in Costa Rica. Karen Lamassonne, the mother of one of these fortunate travelers, felt such envy (the good kind) of the amazingly unique sounds that they experienced in that lush tropical fantasy that she wanted to create the visual in the hope that we may, in some fleeting moment, pass through this Mother Forest and hear it in our imagination.
Karen Lamassonne, a Colombian native, has lived and worked in the US, Colombia, France, Germany and Italy. In her career as a painter she combines other artistic media such as film, video and photography. She also works in design, theatre and music.
The mural was unveiled on Friday, April 28. Make sure to come and see it!
