Learning to Look

This April, AIS will be displaying an artwork by US-born artist, Steve Penley. Penley works and lives in Atlanta. He uses strong brush strokes and vivid color to create a striking presence of the character he is portraying. Penley explains his work, “I have chosen uncomplicated subjects such as historical icons because they are something that we all have in common. Each of the subjects has meanings, which are imprinted in the back of our minds. By manipulating the images, I hope to bring the viewer into a new way of seeing familiar subjects.”
