Fifth-Grade Students Attend Milner Awards

In February, children from many different schools joined together at the Atlanta Fulton Public Library for the presentation of the Milner Award for 2006.

Milner Awards are votes that come in from Atlanta-area children for a favorite author. The author with the most votes wins and the schools that voted are invited to meet him or her.

The 2006 winner is Laura Numeroff, writer of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. The Grade 5 students went to listen to her presentation about her life and inspirations. Children could bring some of her books and get them signed. Everything went well. At the end, six lucky people who had red papers hidden under their chairs could get one of her books for free and it was signed! Nobody from AIS got the red paper. Students at AIS will continue attending voting for this award every year.
