The Middle School recently finished the James and the Giant Peach production. We were in the cast so we can tell first-hand about the incredible dedication and intense work that goes into a production. This play was unique in the sense that it involved a lot of mask work, and this has been a very valuable learning experience for us. It taught us the necessity of concentration and focus, determination to work and of course how to have fun throughout the entire process. Backstage and rehearsals formed many memories with the other cast and crewmembers. Through this experience we have developed many strong friendships and learned to work as one in an ensemble.

The actual performances taught us the true meaning of the phrase “the show must go on.” The atmosphere throughout was at times stressful but ultimately everyone shared a common goal—to put on a spectacular show. We have all grown as actors, friends, and people, and have learned that concentration, energy, and teamwork produce a great result. We’ll all definitely be auditioning again next year!
