On Saturday, February 26 a small group of parents, teachers and students traveled to historic Selma, Alabama for the “Footprints to Freedom Tour.” We were greeted by a wonderful tour guide, Ms. JoAnn Bland, who actually participated in the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, known as “Bloody Sunday.” It was interesting to see and hear about such a significant turn of events that changed history and ultimately led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Our tour took us to the St. James Hotel, Brown’s Chapel, First Baptist Church, the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the Voting Rights Museum. A good time was had by all.

We look forward to another exciting historical tour in the near future.
