Around Atlanta
Around Atlanta will take a walking tour of the beautiful Druid Hills neighborhood on Thursday, April 21. This striking area was planned in 1893 by Frederick Law Olmstead, America’s preeminent landscape designer. Atlanta’s top architects (including the designer of AIS’s building) have contributed lovely homes and churches in the park-like setting of curving streets and mature plantings in Dekalb County.
All AIS parents and friends are welcome to join us for our tour, led by a guide from the Atlanta Preservation Center. The cost is $15 per person. We will gather at the AIS main entrance after morning carpool (about 8:20-8:30), have coffee together, and drive to our meeting point, at Oakdale Road and Ponce de Leon Avenue for our 10 a.m. tour. Come experience some of Atlanta’s residential and architectural history, and enjoy a beautiful spring morning, when so many colorful plants will be in bloom.
