Diggity Dog CAS Group Creates Awareness of Animal Abuse

Diggity Dog is a new Creativity, Action Service (CAS) group at AIS, which represents Diggity Dog Humane Society. Our sole purpose is to spread awareness among the younger generation, specifically Middle School and, at a later date, Primary School. It initially started off with a large enthusiastic group that later filtered to a small but dedicated and committed group of students.

Our CAS group mainly focuses on creating awareness about animal abuse, rescue and shelter dogs. We are finding ways to encourage the public to pay attention to responsible care and treatment of their pets. At a later stage, we are hoping to raise funds for veterinary care and to support local rescue and adoption efforts.

Last month, we put out fliers advertising the pet-of-the-month competition, and our winner was announced on February 15 during our Middle School morning meeting. Olivia Lodise and her dog, Nicha, won the competition and received a rosette. Look forward to more pictures in the next edition of Globetrotter. Our members did a fantastic job presenting at the morning meeting, and we are proud of their achievements. Middle School members include Anna Benkeser, Marie Boudard, Alexandra Zdonczyk, Katherine Davis, and Adam Bostwick. US CAS group leader Simon Thaler has done a wonderful job of working with the MS CAS members. Faculty member, Elena Barrio is a great asset to our CAS group.

I thank Sandra Gray, the founder of Diggity Dog Humane Society Inc. for giving us this wonderful opportunity in helping our four-legged friends.
