Boys Basketball Team Goes to State Tournament
Coach Waddy finished his dream season in the Hancock Central gym February 19. The Eagles boys’ basketball team concluded their year with a loss to Hancock. The boys finished the season 17-9 for a school record total of wins.
This team produced many firsts:
- First 17-win season
- First region tournament win (twice)
- First State Tournament appearance
- First All-Region team selections: Robert Doster and Kallem Brooks
The senior work horses of Robert Doster, Kallem Brooks, Alex “AT” Allen-Tunsil, Alex Acker, Michael Brichant, and Aymerick Kolokilagi led the way to the record season. Scoring records were set and defense was tight all year long.
With a healthy and experienced roster returning next year, the future looks bright.
Spring Sports Start with High Expectations
Several championship-caliber teams return to the spring 2005 campaign. The Eagle teams are looking to bring home a few titles and excel in performance in the coming season.
The Track & Field teams at all levels look strong. The Varsity boys return many athletes with State-meet experience and hope to take the Region. The girls hope to defend their Region championship from last year. The team looks promising to keep the tradition going.
Will this be the year for the Middle School girls Track team? Their second place last year could set the stage for a title run. The boys MS team hopes to improve on its 4th place finish last year.
JV Baseball is expected to have its best season yet. A new dedication to winning is in the spring air. This team will surprise many. The MS baseball team will most likely do the same. Will they contend for the title? We will see soon.
Varsity Girls Soccer is set to go soon. The team is experienced and ready to compete. They worked hard in preparation for their opener at St. Francis on February 24. The JV team is small, but ready. They have a tough schedule and a tournament that will test them this year.
Middle School Girls Soccer should have a winning year. Both A-Team and B-Team coaches expect a successful season from the girls.
