Jazz in Black and White a Successful Event

Jazz in Black and White

This past November, Jazz in Black and White returned to AIS. The seventh annual event featured The Mose Davis Trio band with melodious vocalist Theresa Hightower. The auditorium was transformed, with this year's metamorphosis driven by bountiful black, white and silver decorations and radiant candlelight.

While the professionals held their own, the AIS band, chorus and string groups gave memorable performances which started off the event on a perfect pitch. The audience, including a strong contingent of parents, enjoyed a variety of performances by the young musicians and their instructors.

Attendees found a warm social atmosphere as they escaped the chilly night air. Smooth jazzy sounds accompanied the hors' d'oeuvres and happy conversation, later giving way to up-tempo dance rhythms. The crowd, never one to miss an opportunity, took to the dance floor, turning the enjoyable event into a festive one.

Many thanks to all the contributors to the success of this year's Jazz in Black and White, including the students, parents and instructors, AIS staff and the Parent Organization. See you at next year's event!
