Parent Organization News: Health, Safety, And Security Committee Report
Safety – We have completed the project of adding bollards along the road to protect the PS playground area. We have signed a contract to add a sidewalk along N. Fulton Drive and have requested a bid to add sidewalks along the drive from the PS to the SAC parking area.
Security – We are in the process of improving the fence line along the perimeter of the campus from the PS to the SAC and then around the SAC parking lot. New gates are being added to the PS playground and under the library entrance. These gates will be tamper-proof and have keypad controlled access.
Crisis Plan – We are reviewing the current crisis plan documents with the goal of updating it to reflect current threats and to provide standardized laminated action/reaction flipcharts in each classroom. Recently a committee member attended a school/education organization threat briefing by FBI/GBI and other federal and state agencies.
Carpool Safety - We would like to remind everyone that one of the most dangerous times for our children at school is CARPOOL time. Please slow down, be courteous to others and watch out for the kids. We need to be good neighbors to all the citizens that live around the school and avoid blocking driveways, U-turns on N. Fulton Drive, and letting PS children out of the car away from the carpool line and letting them walk in. Please review your carpool instructions and follow them! What may be the shortest way for you may make carpool unsafe for someone else.
Parking spots – All of the parking spots in the lot directly outside the school are available for parents. Please park responsibly and courteously in these areas.
