Amigos: Lots to Offer in the New Year
Our third session of Flamenco Dancing has started with classes for 4K and 5K on Mondays and on Wednesdays for Grades 1 to 5. Monday classes are full but there are two spots still available for any Grades 1 through 5 students who might be interested.
Flamenco lessons at AIS have been a reality thanks to the dedication of several key persons, to whom we are all very grateful. First is AIS parent Raya Feuer. She was instrumental in making Flamenco happen and also in keeping the girls motivated. Julie Galle Baggentoss, their graceful teacher, has shown great leadership and a true commitment to excellence. And last but not least Facilities Manager Donice Bloodworth, who has worked hard to locate an area where the classes can take place every Wednesday and now Mondays too. To all of you, muchas gracias!
Parents also have an opportunity to learn Spanish at AIS thanks to Norma Padilla who offers the lessons at school. Classes for adults will continue to be offered on a monthly basis, on Mondays and Thursdays for intermediates and Tuesdays and Fridays for beginners. Both classes are from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Currently, Amigos is busy working with the Primary School teachers in planning for the Dìa del Idioma on April 22 and cooperating with the Hospitality committee in organizing the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon which the Parent Organization hosts every year for the entire AIS staff.
For more information about any of these activities or if you are interested in becoming an active member of Amigos, please contact Begoña Cintrón at begolatica@yahoo.com.
And last but certainly not least, Amigos bids the Schapira family farewell as they return home to Argentina. Silvina Schapira was an active member of our association and one who will be greatly missed. Buena suerte y hasta pronto!
