AIS Hosts Southeastern Council of Foundations
Dr. Brindley presents Dr. Helene Gayle, president and CEO of CARE USA, with a print of AIS's facade drawn by Emerence de Potesta de Waleffe, Grade 12.
Accustomed to what a unique learning experience we have at AIS, it is often only when others step through our doors that we realize how truly exceptional we are. In December, students, teachers, parents, and administration members came together to set the stage for a remarkable experience for the Southeastern Council of Foundations. A membership association of grant-making foundations and programs in 12 southeastern states, SECF promotes excellence throughout the field of philanthropy and the creation of new philanthropic resources to benefit the region. We were fortunate to host SECF's annual luncheon at the request of AIS trustee Lynn Pattillo. Dr. Helene Gayle, president and CEO of CARE USA, was the keynote speaker.
Representatives from some of the most prominent foundations in the world, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and The Coca-Cola Foundation, were on hand to partake in the unique atmosphere of AIS. Parents thrilled guests with their exceptional cuisine from Lebanon, the Caribbean, Chile, Belgium, Japan and many others, while engaging attendees with their cultural insights. First grade choir students, adorned in t-shirts with flags representing countries around the world, tugged at the heart strings while filling the room with an innocence of joyous singing in Spanish, French, German and English.
Dr. Brindley was passionate and inviting in his welcome to the noted guests and took great pride in the incredible atmosphere of the day.
All in all, it was a sight to behold and a phenomenal moment of pride for all those who participated.
