Music Department "Notes"

The Department of Music presented its annual “Sounds of the Season” concerts on December 6 and 8 in the Auditorium, both performances to a full house. The Primary School program featured the Grade 4 and Grade 5 Bands, the PS Chorus, and the PS Strings. A highlight of the program was the PS Chorus’s performance of international holiday music as well as the Grade 4 band’s first-ever performance so early in the school year. On December 8, six groups were featured: The MS Symphonic Band, Chorus, and Strings; and the US Chorus, Strings, and Jazz Band. The conductors were Suzanna Jemsby (strings), Ron Howard (bands) and Julie Harvey (choirs).

Upcoming events for the Department of Music include the second (of four) of the annual series of the AIS Chamber Players on Tuesday, January 24, at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium. The Chamber Players programs are designed for soloists and small groups, and are open to anyone connected to the AIS community: students, teachers, staff, parents, alumni, etc. The deadline for requesting a performance slot is ten days prior to the performance. There will be two other Chamber Players programs on March 21 and May 23.
