Flamenco Students Prepare for Spring Expo
Primary School students taking flamenco dance lessons after school at AIS will spend the first part of 2006 preparing for a city-wide student expo to be held in the spring. These students attend classes taught by Julie Baggenstoss on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
"Students first learn the basics of flamenco arm and hand movements and footwork rhythms. Then, we incorporate this technical knowledge into a fun routine. I stick closely to the traditions of flamenco and include lessons in the history and culture of the Spanish art form," says Ms. Baggenstoss.
Classes are split into two levels, 4K through first graders attending class together and second through fourth graders in a class by themselves. There are a few spaces available in both classes. Contact Julie Baggenstoss at julie@flamencoclasses.com for more information.
