First Grade Students Perform for 5K
With the help of Marie-Luce Van Asten, Arnaud Hugonie and the French Support teachers, students participated in Oral Language groups where they created puppet shows about our classroom turtle, Carapatte. These stories were a great success and they decided to write them in a a homemade book. A few days later first graders, with some help from Madame Frédérique, wrote a letter to the 5K French students inviting them to their puppet show and the presentation of their book.
Just before the presentation, the students used their phonic phones to practice their reading. Phonic phones are used to lead and amplify the sounds from their mouth to their ear when they read out loud. Peer presentations helped students to feel comfortable while reading. The young audience was most impressed with the achievements of First Grade!
