Robotics Team Wins Animation and Spirit Awards
Team 1414, Atlanta International School's "International House of Technology", won the Autodesk Visualization Award and the DaimlerChrysler Team Spirit Award at the Peachtree Regional robotics tournament March 15-17.
Adrien Pellerin, the team's captain, said: "We had an awesome day today! We won the Animation award yesterday and today, we won the Spirit award.
"By the end of the qualification rounds, we were ranked 19th out of about 50 teams. We were then picked to be in an alliance to compete in the final rounds. We competed in the quarter-finals, but unfortunately did not get past that stage."
The team's animation will now go on to the national competition where it will compete for the national Autodesk Visualization award. The national competition will be held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, April 13-15.
About the Autodesk Visualization Award
"The Autodesk Visualization Award recognizes outstanding student achievement in animation. Autodesk challenged teams to use Autodesk 3ds Max software to produce a 30-second animation that best depicts the theme assigned in the Autodesk competition. This is a terrific opportunity to see how imaginative teams can be using one of the greatest imagination tools in the world. The judges look for concept, creativity, and technical execution. This year's theme is "Thinking Green." (http://firstbase.autodesk.com)
