English as a Second Language Camp

The ESOL Summer Language Camp Program aims to motivate students to develop the ability to communicate accurately in speech and writing. We create an environment that will allow students to look for connections between what they know and the new information they come into contact with during their course of study. By using a variety of methods, students develop comprehension and language skills that will encourage them to respond to the demands of social and academic life around them. The program offers ways in which students can synthesize information across cultures and lifestyles with enjoyment and creativity. Attitudes that we want to develop in our ESOL language campers are: · to participate enthusiastically in all activities · to enjoy learning for the sake of learning · to be sensitive and patient to the needs of campmates · to respect and value the cultures and traditions of others · to understand and accept that mistakes are a part of learning · to ask for help · to accept responsibility for the learning process · to try and not give up · to make good use of the time spent at the language camp
