Accelerated Reader is a motivational reading tool that measures reading comprehension. Students read books and take multiple choice reading practice quizzes on the computer. The books may be obtained from any source - our school library, the public library or the bookstore. Accelerated Reader is only one aspect of the reading motivation program in the Primary School.
A website, AR Bookfinder (see the link below), is available from home or school to help students select books to read that also have reading practice quizzes. Parents can assist from home with the book selection process. Accelerated Reader quizzes are available for English and Spanish books primarily and only books in those languages are listed on AR Bookfinder.
Quizzes must be taken at school. During school hours, they may be taken from computers in the library (with a library pass) or in the Primary School building at the teacher’s discretion as to time and place. Students may take quizzes before and after school in the library (regular guidelines about parent supervision apply).
